I have been thinking of doing something very similar, and am planning on doing it soon. In fact I'm going to amalgamate those 2 holes into one larger one - like you fibreglassing, but I'm going to add at least one more scupper on each side forward of the existing one, so that water on deck is shed much faster. Found your comments about the more flexible resin very helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for your comment. We have over 10,000 miles on the boat after this repair and zero problems. Some of these miles were in very heavy seas. Hope it works out for you too. I wish I had left a bit more of a drip ring outboard to prevent stains on the hull.

Geat fish story and nice pic. Caught some Mahi in Gutamala and the mate lassoed the tail then hog tied the fish for 20 minutes. it did not get away. They eat as good as anything in the ocean.

Just checking in to see how your sails are going. Emily & I arrived back home safe and sound and missing Cat Island! What a wonderful time it was meeting you both. The pictures you shared are awesome although the ones you put on my card did not come out and the video I wanted most with the Captain A-Hole song is not there. Boo hoo! What a surprise! You found my message in a bottle! Your excitment and delight of finding the green bottle is exactly what I had hoped for. My wife and I were so excited to hear the news.
Born in New Jersey, my father introduced me to deep sea fishing from an early age. Now in my early 60's my wife and I live in North Eastern Pennsylvania but I still love the ocean and sport fish as often as possible usually once a week off the NJ coast. I especially enjoy a "Tuna" fishing trip out to Hudson Canyon USA at least once or twice per year with my son. I always thought it would be fun to toss a message in a bottle and hopefully have someone find it. In 2005 I actually did it. I had hoped it would travel the Gulf Stream and eventually find its way to a distant shore. Your post of "message in a bottle" was so beautifully written especially the details of the possible and incredible voyage the bottle had taken up and down the Gulf Stream eventually resting in the Bahamas. I am amazed it survived it's voyage. I had wrapped the message in foil so the ink would not fade from the sun and slipped the $10.00 in for cost of contacting me hoping the bottle remained sealed.
Apparently it worked! Thank you for contacting me. Although I was sorry I missed your calls it was a wonderful and exciting surprise. As requested, a donation has been made to St. Jude's Children Hospital. I am glad that "one little green bottle" has managed to bring some joy to both of our worlds.
